Bladnoch has had more than its fair share of ups and downs over its 200-year history, but this eight-year-old shows the distillery in fine form. Part of the Double Matured Collection, it has spent time in two different types of American oak red wine casks, bringing a rather different character to this Lowland malt. Think ripe strawberries, creamy sweetness and a little herbal spice, with enough oak to keep everything in check. A fruity little number that proves you don't need decades in a barrel to make interesting whisky.

Nose:
Fresh strawberries, raspberries, orange peel and vanilla with hints of pine, honey and gentle spice.

Palate:
Rich strawberry jam, creamy vanilla, toasted oak, nutmeg and ginger with a touch of herbal bitterness.

Finish:
Long and warming with lingering berry sweetness, soft wood spice and a gently drying finish.
