Tasting Notes
The Glenglassaugh Distillery was mothballed from 1986 until 2008 and this the first whisky to be made from spirit distilled at the distillery since it reopened. Hence the name ‘Revival’. It was matured in a mixture of first-fill bourbon casks and red wine casks before a final short finish in first-fill oloroso sherry butts.
Nose:
Sweet caramel and toffee with notes of nutty Sherry, milk chocolate and honey. Ripe plums, red berries and oranges. Caramelised sugar and earthy, charred oak.
Palate:
Sweet, rounded and creamy. Oranges, plums, cherry and walnuts, chocolate, honey-mead, Sherry and soft, spiced oak.
Finish:
Medium with warming mulled-wine spices, Sherry and caramel.
