Tasting Notes
Headlands has taken a very deliberate approach to its whisky from the beginning, starting with the barley and working closely with growers before searching for casks that would complement the spirit. This expression began life in a Four Roses bourbon cask before spending another year in French oak seasoned with 15-year-old Seppeltsfield Rare Muscat. The result is a whisky that has picked up serious international recognition while keeping the Muscat influence firmly in balance.
Nose:
Rich raisins and preserved fruit with butterscotch, vanilla and charred oak.
Palate:
Dark fruit and caramel sweetness with vanilla, toasted oak and a rich, rounded texture.
Finish:
Long and warming with dried fruit, soft spice, oak and lingering sweetness.
