Tasting Notes
Michel Couvreur has spent decades doing things differently, bringing Scottish whisky to Burgundy and maturing it in exceptional sherry casks deep beneath the French countryside. Hexanobile turns that tradition on its head. For the first time in their regular range, the whisky itself is entirely French, bringing together malts from three French distilleries, aged between 8 and 12 years. Matured in a combination of Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks, it delivers everything from dry, nutty spice to rich dried fruits and roasted coffee. A fascinating new chapter for a producer who has never been particularly interested in following the rules.
Nose
Dried flowers, honey, ripe figs and gentle sherry sweetness with toasted walnuts, soft oak and warming spice.
Palate
Rich and silky with dark caramel, dried fruits, roasted nuts and baking spices. Hints of chocolate, toasted malt and a touch of earthy peat.
Finish
Long and warming with roasted coffee, dark cocoa, walnuts and lingering dried fruit sweetness.
